Rev. Dr. Elijah A. Stansell, Jr. was appointed district superintendent of the Central South District July 1, 2020. He previously served as the Fiscal Officer/Treasurer for the Texas Annual Conference for sixteen (16) years. Prior ministry assignments included, the Houston Northwest District Superintendent for four years and pastor of McCabe Roberts Avenue United Methodist Church.
A graduate of Stephen F. Austin University and Perkins School of Theology - Southern Methodist University, he received the Doctor of Ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois.
More recently he served on the General Council on Finance and Administration Board, as a member of the Fiduciary, Foundation and Property Matters Committees. He is presently serving on the General Council Economical Advisory Committee.
Dr. Stansell is married to Audrey H. Stansell. They are the parents of three adult children: Bethany, April and Christalyn. They have three grandchildren, Audree, Kevin Jr and Klay Elijah.
